「SABERTOOTH X79」は、Intel LGA2011+ X79 Expressチップセットを搭載した「TheTUF」シリーズの最新マザーボードです。
Intel最新の第2世代Core_i7 Extream-Editionをサポート、搭載されたCh-A～Dの各2基/合計8基のメモリスロットは「Quad Channel」動作に対応し、DDR3-1866/1600/1333/1066Mhzの各種メモリ（XMP 対応）を最大64GBまで搭載可能です。
また、最新のPCIe3.0規格に準拠したx16タイプスロットを3基（x16/x16/x8）、さらに、SSDをキャッシュとして利用することによりシステム実行速度を最大3倍にまでブーストアップする新機能「ASUS SSD Caching」を搭載しています。
